Echos of War (a four week discussion)
Click Here for location and schedule
Welcome to Echoes of War, a four-week discussion series that asks Veterans and members of the general public to consider how Americans memorialize war and military service in public, and how that relates to the way war gets remembered through the personal stories and life experiences of Veterans.
Over the next month, we will read and discuss poetry, oratory, and oral history from the Civil War, World War I, and the wars in Vietnam and Iraq; visit and discuss the Northfield Area Veterans Memorial; and attend a Ten Thousand Things Theater production of Pericles, staged at the Minnesota Humanities Center. Taken together, these varied humanities sources will help us think about history, collective memory, memorialization, and personal story while learning from and with one another about the culture and impact of military service.
